SOTI, a provider of technology and solutions to support mobility and Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) adoption in enterprises, announced updates to its mobile device management solution, MobiControl.

The new MobiControl 11 delivers a flexible management tool for any device or platform, company officials said. For example, the solution currently supports Samsung KNOX, iOS 7, Amazon Kindle Fire HDX, Windows Phone 8.1, Windows Handheld Embedded and more.

SOTI’s MobiControl 11 also enables organizations to select a user-based licensing model that simplifies administration, enhances security and provides users with the flexibility to use multiple mobile devices in the workplace.

The user-based software licensing model also reduces overall costs, helping organizations overcome budgetary constraints. An estimate given by the company says MobiControl 11 could reduce the cost of mobile device management to as little as $60 per employee per year.

With its enhanced capabilities, the solution aligns with organizations’ needs to provide support for the latest mobile devices entering their networks, supporting the growing trends toward IT consumerization and consolidation of rugged and consumer devices.

Carl Rodrigues, president and CEO, SOTI, said the latest version brings to market several key technologies and advancements that push the boundaries of enterprise mobility management, while providing customers with the tools they need to deal with the rapidly evolving mobile ecosystem.

MobiControl also features a Manage Your Own Device (MYOD) Self-Service Portal that equips device users with tools to manage their mobile devices, thereby reducing IT support costs and increasing productivity.  Some of the capabilities include password reset, data wipe on a lost or stolen device, misplaced device lock, device messaging, device location via geo-tracking, and more.

Another feature, Geo-Aware Content Access, allows enterprises to restrict access to sensitive corporate information while still providing users uninterrupted access to their personal applications and data.

With mass configuration and application provisioning, SOTI MobiControl has the ability to automate app configuration and dramatically reduce the workload for IT administrators when deploying large numbers of devices.

Without software, the remarkable efficiency and cost reductions organizations have been able to achieve in recent decades simply wouldn’t be possible.

This white paper examines the pricing and licensing strategies that application producers have put into place and are planning, and the impact that this will have on the often--fraught application producer/enterprise relationship. Download Infographic
