Flexera Adds Mac Support to AdminStudio Suite

July 08, 2016

IT professionals are used to adapting to change, but today the pace of change appears to be accelerating, and it’s becoming increasingly difficult to keep applications continually updated and ready to deploy in any environment. Luckily, there is help for streamlining and accelerating these vital processes. The ultimate goal of these solutions is to decrease risk and help companies embrace new technologies faster.

Flexera Software, which produces software licensing, compliance, security and installation solutions for application producers and enterprises, recently announced that it has updated its flagship AdminStudio Suite, a unified application readiness solution for packaging, virtualization and management by adding Mac support to the product’s existing Windows and mobile applications. The suite was designed to help IT departments maintain application readiness processes for inventory, rationalization, packaging, planning and compatibility testing of physical, virtual and mobile applications, ensuring faster service delivery and more predictable deployment.

According to the company, AdminStudio Suite eliminates the need for multiple standalone tools and provides an integrated solution for teams ranging from a single software application packager to large distributed teams, reducing help desk calls and increasing user productivity by ensuring consistent and reliable deployments of physical, virtual, and mobile applications.

The automated solution is integrated with popular software distribution tools (including Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager, Novell (News - Alert) ZENworks, LANDesk Management Suite, and Symantec Altiris Client Management Suite) and it includes workflow capabilities that can assist with streamlining day-to-day application packaging operations and reduce the time and cost of application virtualization, mobile application management, and Windows migrations. According to Flexera, the AdminStudio software has been proven in benchmark tests to decrease application preparation time by up to 70 percent. Users can also repackage applications for Windows Installer (MSI (News - Alert)), create and edit MSI installations, patches and transforms, and engage in advanced MSI packaging, customization, and authoring with InstallShield.

“The client computing environment is increasingly driven by employee choice,” said Maureen Polte, Vice President of Product Management at Flexera Software in the press release. “IT is increasingly tasked with going beyond traditional personal computers to now support numerous Mac devices, and must manage applications in a cost-effective and productive manner across a diverse host of computers, laptops, bring your own devices (BYOD) and even wearables. Flexera Software is excited to help IT navigate in these complex environments, and adapt to the faster application release schedules they are faced with on a daily basis.”

In addition to the AdminStudio announcement, Flexera also brought to market its latest release of Workflow Manager, a Web-based end-to-end IT process management solution that tracks service-level agreements using out-of-the-box automation for change and asset management. Workflow Manager also standardizes, coordinates and streamlines procurement, preparation, deployment, audit and retirement processes for engineers to get ahead of backlog packaging requests, and prepare for more frequent application update and migration projects.

Flexera Software is offering its AdminStudio Suite in a free trial version for 21 days. More information may be found on the company’s Web site
