Flexera, FS-ISAC Partner to Provide Software Vulnerability Intelligence

March 28, 2017

Every episode of G.I. Joe ended with the same tag (News - Alert) line, “Knowing is half the battle,” and for enterprises and SMBs seeking secure operations, awareness of software vulnerabilities is paramount. Ignorance is far from bliss for firms unknowingly allowing for such vulnerabilities to exist. Today, Flexera Software took a step in furthering the ability to deliver this intelligence.

Flexera renewed an agreement with the Financial Service Information Sharing and Analysis Center (FS-ISAC) to provide vulnerability alerts to those in the financial, legal service, utilities, gas and oil industries. FS-ISAC members gain access to continuous notifications for selected products pertinent to industry, allowing for improved risk assessment and mitigation.

“Flexera Software is a dedicated industry partner, supporting FS-ISAC’s mission to help assure the resilience and continuity of the global financial services infrastructure, and affiliated sectors,” said Cindy Donaldson, Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Sector Services at FS-ISAC.  “As the global information-sharing channel for four industries, we receive and relay timely, actionable intelligence on software vulnerabilities, coming directly from Secunia (News - Alert) Research at Flexera Software, to our members.”

Each notification is vetted, analyzed and normalized by Flexera Software’s security experts – the same team that designed and developed the Flexera Software Vulnerability Management solution suite.

“Flexera Software is very proud of our FS-ISAC partnership, which dates back to 2012 under the Secunia brand.  As specialists in vulnerability research, we understand the importance of collaboration between information and IT Security professionals across industries, and fully support information-sharing initiatives,” said Jim Ryan, Chief Executive Officer at Flexera Software.  “We are happy to provide important pieces of information in this complex puzzle of risk assessment and mitigation, and help FS-ISAC and its member financial services firms.  We also see this data helping commercial security firms, federal, state & local government agencies and law enforcement.  We look forward to strengthening our partnership in the years to come, especially given these threats are not going away anytime soon.”

The stark reality is that vulnerabilities exist, and too often a lack of awareness results in negative consequences. And, while today I may chuckle at the abovementioned G.I Joe tag line, its meaning rings truer than ever.

Do you have vulnerability management solutions in place?
